Steakhouse Creamed Spinach
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ½ onion, diced
  • 1 – 16 oz bag of frozen chopped spinach (you can also used fresh chopped and would need more)
  • 2 ounces cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese (more if you prefer)
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter and sautée the onions until soft and starting to color.
  2. Add the spinach and cook until the moisture is evaporated off (almost dry).
  3. Add cream cheese and combine.
  4. Move spinach to the side of the pan (or remove it if you like), tilt the pan slightly so you can make a quick roux on the other side of the pan (add flour and 1 tablespoon of butter to melt and mix).
  5. Mix the the roux into the spinach.
  6. Add Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper to taste.
  7. Add cream and simmer until you reach your desired consistency.
You can also use more roux and 1% milk if you’d like to make a healthier option. We only make the full recipe for special occasions.
