Tea Time: Roasted Fox and Owl Ice Cream at the OWO

Raffles London at The OWO has introduced a lovely option for tea with your children. The book The Gruffalo is one of the modern classics for children in the UK, and a must read for all ages. After the release of the newest book, Gruffalo Granny, Raffles launched a Gruffalo tea for children. Adults have their Secrets and Spies tea, while the children receive a bag they can color, a Gruffalo mask and a sticker activity book. It’s similar to the swag bags hotels often give children at restaurants, but taken to a whole new level.

Our son had a hot chocolate topped to the brim with marshmallows, then came the savory sandwiches, named and themed after different parts of the book, like Roasted Fox and Scrambled Snake. If you have no clue what we’re talking about, go get a copy of The Gruffalo. It was so good that our son has requested Roasted Fox sandwiches for his lunch.

Next came the sweets, including a chocolate Gruffalo and an edible copy of Gruffalo Granny on top. There was plenty, so we brought a few things home as a treat for the next day. Just note you won’t see an appearance from the real Gruffalo, but our son didn’t seem to mind. While we sipped our tea, he was so happy to be a part of it and to see the characters and ideas he knew from the story.

The service was stellar, and the team made an extra effort to make sure every child in the room was well taken care of. It’s very clever and a great way to include your children in an afternoon tea.
