Yes, this is our delivery Chinese food, and it’s amazing! When we lived outside the city we would drive in just to eat at Mission Chinese. Now we can get it delivered! It was the first takeout we ordered after we moved.
Mission Chinese has locations in San Francisco and New York. The San Francisco location is on Mission street between 18th and 19th streets. Look for a yellow Lung Shan Restaurant sign. We prefer to just order it in. Some of our favorites include:
Grandma Zhou’s Pork Dumplings
5 dumplings with pea tendrils, garlic chives, ham broth
Chonqing Chicken Wings
explosive chili, crispy beef tripe – spicy
Note: When we went to Chicago’s NEXT restaurant during their Chinese menu, they served squab in paper bags covered in Szechuan pepper. It’s a unique pepper that has a spicy tingling or buzzing sensation. These wings have szechuan pepper and that same sensation! Clayton refuses to eat any offal, so we just order it sans tripe. Check out how to make these wings yourself here.
Sour Chili Chicken
Chicken breast, Kohlrabi, Romanesco, Cauliflower, pickled serrano
Spicy Beef Chow Mein
Hangar steak, spicy miso, fried shallot, bell pepper, pickled mustard green (An order of this + chopsticks = happiness)
Danny Bowien and Chris Ying’s The Mission Chinese Cookbook will be released November 10, 2015. We hope to be able to try out some of the recipes! As an early release, Eater has shared recipes for Kung Pao Pastrami and Broccoli Beef.
