When I began making a to-do list of what we needed to buy for a baby, a diaper bag was a top priority. What’s the best diaper bag? What functions do you need? What were the mommy reviews saying online? When we were in Paris, we stopped at the Baby Dior store. They of course had a Dior diaper bag called a “changing bag.” My husband was actually very supportive and thought I should get it. You’ll be using it all the time like a purse right…?
I took it down and checked out the inside, just as I would do with a purse, to see how it closes, what pockets are inside, etc. I found it difficult to get things in and out, scratched my hand on the zipper, and pulled out a generic diaper pad all for a few thousand dollars. My thinking was that getting things in and out quickly would be important and this was not a solution.
I began to look around at Parisian mothers. Sure enough, they all had…
designer totes hanging from their strollers with hooks. We had even seen a mother with a giant Goyard bag hanging from her stroller at Borgo Egnizia in Puglia earlier that summer. This was the key!
The best diaper bag is simply no diaper bag at all!
This is the perfect opportunity to buy yourself a new bag! Like how women buy fancy Manolo Blahniks for their wedding and then wear them as normal shoes after. It’s the perfect excuse to splurge a little. Now, you’ll see that many of the designer brands offer diaper bags or changing bags. For example, there’s Fendi, Dior, Gucci, Prada, shall I go on? But why not just get yourself a giant bag normal purse or tote and hooks (like these) for the stroller, and if you opt for a tote style, get a tote organizer to go inside? I measured my Dior book tote and Goyard tote to make sure my organizer would fit in both. Now I can change up my diaper bag as desired or with the season.
If dad wants in on this too, he can always get a designer backpack.
