The Kunsthaus Art Museum in Zurich is the most extensive art collection in Zurich. There’s something for every art lover—spanning from Dutch masters to Impressionism to Pop Art —including works from Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, and Alberto Giacometti.
This summer, the luxury Baur au Lac Hotel is partnering with the Kunsthaus to celebrate its special exhibition, Landscapes by Gerhard Richter. Richter is one of the most important living artists, and Landscapes is the most extensive collection of his work ever assembled in one place. To celebrate, Baur au Lac and Kunsthaus have created The Artful Vibes package. The package includes a visit to Richter’s exhibition and the opportunity to try Chef Laurent Eperon’s 7-course menu inspired by the art.
We highly recommend seeing the exhibit, and you can see some of our favorite pieces below. Many works are on loan from private collectors and are being exhibited publicly for the first time.
The permanent collection of the Kunsthaus is also impressive, and we highly recommend spending a few hours exploring it. One particularly nice feature of the Kunsthaus is that there are several locker areas where you can store your coats and bags so you can freely explore the rooms of masterpieces and take in the art.
The Kunsthaus plans to open a new extension this fall. An architectural masterpiece in itself, it currently houses William Forsyth’s ‘The Sense of Things.’ It’s a dynamic exhibit of church bells spaced throughout the building with visual and audio elements.
We were also excited to experience the Landscape exhibit by Gerhard Richter. The collection has 140 works, many of which are being exhibited publicly for the first time.
