Located on Sunset Boulevard, just south of Hollywood’s Chinese Theatre in an unassuming strip mall, Luv2Eat is one of the best Thai restaurants in LA. Recommended by local chefs at Nomad LA on our recent trip to downtown LA, we stopped in for a quick lunch, and found some of the best Thai food we’ve ever had in Los Angeles.
The Hat Yai fried chicken Southern Thai style featured crispy fried chicken, served with super-sticky rice, fried shallots, and sweet chili sauce. It had a perfect crunch, with moist chicken inside. The real star was the spicy Phuket Style crab curry, served in a metal bowl filled with blue crab meat, crab clusters, piles of kanom jeen noodles, pickled carrot, and papaya.

We told the server that we liked spicy food, but she suggested we have the crab curry “mild.” Fair warning: as it was, this was one of the spiciest things we’ve ever eaten. Every bite set our tongues on fire, but we kept going back for more. It’s also a little hands-on and messy, but you have to go and experience it for yourself. We can’t wait to go back next time we’re in LA.

There’s also a great tea shop, Boba time, just around the corner from Luv2Eat — it’s the perfect place to douse your burning taste buds with a fresh boba tea before heading on to your next adventure. Thank you to Alaska Airlines for sponsoring this story.
