The luxurious Philippe Starck-designed La Reserve Zurich is located directly on Lake Zurich with views of sailboats and the bathing club. Rooms at this historic hotel have been reimagined with a modern dark interior and gorgeous finishes inspired by sailing. Our suite was appointed in wood, steel, leather, and glass with obvious touches of Starck. Our favorite piece was the floor-to-ceiling bar stocked with some of the best premium spirits, and we loved that the bed was oriented to face the windows so you can enjoy waking up to views of the lake.
The location of the hotel is also fabulous, with Old Town Zurich just a few minutes away on foot along the shores of Lake Zurich. If you walk about ten minutes south along the lake, you’ll find the famous Pavillon Le Corbusier.
La Reserve Zurich has a fantastic rooftop view of the city, lake, and mountains. It’s the perfect place to watch the sunset in Zurich, followed by dinner at La Muna, the hotel’s Japanese-Peruvian restaurant on the roof, with delicious ceviches, sashimi, and sushi, as well as hot dishes.
Our favorite was the crispy shake with spicy salmon tartar and crispy maguro with spicy tuna tartare, both on a bite of crispy fried rice topped with fresh jalapenos. The fresh Peruvian food is mixed with a cozy chalet-inspired ambiance. It almost feels like a warm alpine attic, with its exposed wooden beams and walls lined with black and white photos.
