Bright colored tulips popping up from the cold ground is always a heartwarming reminder to us that Spring is finally here. Now that we live in Switzerland , surrounded by snowy peaks, we were especially excited to see the colorful tulips and daffodils popping up all over the countryside.
The famous Morges Tulip Festival includes over 145,000 tulips and 275 different varieties of tulips, in a park next to Lake Geneva. Morges is just next to the town where Audrey Hepburn lived, so I wonder if she ever wandered through the same beds of tulips.
The spectacular tulip festival started in 1971 and blooms from April until the end in mid-May. You can go on different weekends and see completely different varieties of tulips. The tulips are planted in The Parc de l’Independance on the shores of Lake Geneva just next to the Chateau de Morges. On a warm spring day, it’s a fantastic place to wander through the sea of tulips.
