Tucked away in the lesser-known port town of Carry-le-Rouet, just west of Marseille, L’Hotel Bleu offers a charming escape that’s perfect for travelers seeking a blend of coastal tranquility and easy access to the vibrant city life of Marseille. This brand new hotel, which opened just a week before our arrival, is a sister property to the popular Hotel Liautaud in Cassis. Hotel Bleu shares the same commitment to comfort and style, but with its own unique flair that makes it a standout destination.
If you’re searching for a boutique hotel in the South of France that offers both luxury and convenience, Hotel Bleu is an excellent choice. The hotel’s location is ideal for those who want to experience both the calm of a small port town and the excitement of Marseille, which is just a short drive away. Whether you’re heading into the city for an afternoon of exploration or a dinner by the sea, this hotel near Marseille provides the perfect base.
One of the highlights of Hotel Bleu is its small rooftop infinity pool, which offers stunning views of the harbor below. Our son especially loved it, as one part is shallow enough for walking, while the far end has a deeper pool for a refreshing plunge. The poolside bar adds to the experience, making it easy to relax and enjoy the surroundings with a drink in hand.
The rooms at Hotel Bleu carry a nautical theme, with crisp white and blue accents that evoke the feeling of being on a boat. Each room features a giant terrace overlooking the port, providing a perfect spot to unwind and take in the scenic views. The bathrooms and spa are stocked with Phytomer products, adding a touch of luxury to your stay. Although we only spent one night here, the spa is definitely something we’d make time for on our next visit.
The hotel’s interior design is a delightful blend of mid-century modern and coastal charm. The lobby and restaurant feature a striking wooden bar at the center, with blue sea life artfully painted on the ceiling, creating an atmosphere that’s both elegant and inviting. The avant-garde Alpanage piano in the bar is a unique touch that adds to the hotel’s artistic vibe.
Dining at Hotel Bleu’s new restaurant l’Oursin was a memorable experience. Chef Ilane Tinchant took the time to serve each guest personally, explaining the composition of each dish. This personalized touch made the meal feel special and showcased the chef’s passion for his craft. See more from our visit to the restaurant here.
Overall, Hotel Bleu is a surprising gem perched on a cliff overlooking the port of Carry-le-Rouet. If you’re looking for a South of France hotel that offers a perfect blend of relaxation, style, and convenience, this boutique hotel in the South of France should be your go-to place to stay. Whether for a night or an extended stay, Hotel Bleu is a destination worth discovering.
