In the heart of Paris’s Golden Triangle, just a short walk from the Champs-Élysées, a new restaurant is making waves with its upscale Japanese-Peruvian fusion cuisine. Mido Paris‘ unique menu combines the fresh, vibrant flavors of Peru with the delicate, precise techniques of Japanese cooking, creating dishes that are both familiar and completely new. With successful sister locations Mido in Cannes and La Môme in Monaco, Mido’s arrival in Paris was highly anticipated, and we couldn’t wait to experience it for ourselves.
The restaurant’s decor is at once chic and relaxing. Plush velvet chairs and green marble tables add a touch of luxury, while palm trees and greenery throughout the space create a light, airy atmosphere. The highlight is a retractable rooftop that opens to let in fresh air and sunlight, making it one of the more refreshing spots among the many Golden Triangle restaurants in Paris.
We started with a selection of appetizers prepared by Chef Christopher Brugnaux, whose mastery of Nikkei cuisine was evident from the first bite. The gyozas, served with a selection of sauces, were bold and zesty — spicy even! The ceviche was fresh and citrusy, a perfect representation of Peruvian influences, while the otoro sashimi showcased the chef’s skill in balancing fine textures and bright flavors.
Our son loved with the crispy tempura shrimp, and for the main courses, we enjoyed a beautifully cooked miso salmon served with vinegar rice. The beef tartar, topped with truffles, was a standout, lighter than we would have expected and that paired well with the recommended white wine—a choice that seamlessly bridged the diverse dishes.
For dessert, we were offered a selection of stunning pastries from Chef Jeffrey Cagnes, including a yuzu-filled éclair topped with chocolate and a matcha cookie, each dessert reflecting the fusion theme with a blend of familiar tastes and unexpected twists.
Adding to the experience is their impressive gin tonic menu, featuring a wide range of gins from around the world with various flavor profiles. Whether you prefer a classic gin and tonic or something more adventurous, there’s an option to suit every taste, making it a perfect spot for after-work drinks as well as dining.
Located close to the bustling Champs-Élysée but away from the main tourist crowds, this restaurant is a welcome addition to sushi restaurants in the Golden Triangle. For anyone exploring the best of Nikkei cuisine in Paris (Japanese-Peruvian fusion), the restaurant offers a fresh take on fusion dining that’s well worth a visit. From the flavorful dishes to the stylish decor, it’s poised to become one of the top Golden Triangle restaurants in Paris. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, make sure to book your table and experience this culinary adventure.
