Living in Switzerland, having a car is far from a necessity, especially if you're residing in a bustling city like Geneva or Zurich. The train system is fantastic — there’s literally nowhere in Switzerland you can’t reach through some combination of train, bus, and cable car. Rental cars are also always available for those moments when you need to get out of town or haul things. However, living in the countryside, we quickly realized that we needed a car for a lot of things we like to do — especially our frequent road trips in France and Italy.
