After a day at the sea in Camogli, we returned late to Genova, and Ceri took us to a special restaurant where all the Italian winemakers go when they’re in town – Forchetta Curiosa. It’s always a good sign to eat where industry leaders are eating and that’s exactly where we want to be. This osteria has a unique natural wine list made up of very smaller producers, including Andi Fausto and Fabio Gea. Choose your wine from the menu or off the wall.

The food, of course, was also memorable. Liguria is known for its seafood, and our favorite local dish was a seafood stew made with mussels, clams, saffron, and couscous. We also recommend the calamari pasta and a simple but flavorful pasta with a sauce made with anchovies and blood oranges from Sicily. Be sure to choose from the daily fresh specials listed on the chalkboard by the door.
The staff was friendly and owner Roberto, who came in to close up with his thick glasses and shawl-collared sweater, was the epitome of a fashionable Genovese man. Looking for where to eat in Genova? We highly recommend stopping at the Osteria for lunch or dinner.
