A few months ago we happened upon a great spot for brunch in San Francisco. Central Kitchen features California-centered cuisine, local ingredients, and great service. Even though it was busy when we arrived, we didn’t have to wait long to be seated.
We really liked the open feel of the restaurant. Central Kitchen has a lot of natural elements, with a fountain in the front and lots of natural light.
We started out by splitting a medjool date sticky bun with hazelnuts, bacon, and a smear of ricotta. This was fabulous! I only wish we each had our own. I would come here just for the sticky bun!
We ordered the baked eggs with pork sugo, grits, and chili-fennel breadcrumbs. Very flavorful and filling!
We also ordered a side of crispy potatoes with parmigiano, malt vinegar, and caramelized onions and almond wood smoked bacon. I’m not sure what I expected since it specifically said “smoked” but we’re not huge fans of smoked meats and it wasn’t our favorite. Our fault for not reading. The crispy potatoes were a great pair to go with the baked eggs.
We can’t wait to go back to Central Kitchen and try dinner! The menu looks great and the wine list looks really interesting.
