If you find yourself in Florence craving pizza, you can’t go wrong at Il Pizzaiuolo. A friend told us about this place years ago on our first trip to Florence together. It was before we had smartphones, but we were able to find it again on our most recent stop in Florence. It was just as good as our first visit.

Normally, I don’t like to order regional Italian dishes when I’m in a different region. I’d get bistecca alla Fiorentina, roasted Tuscan rabbit, or ribollita, but sometimes you just need a quick lunch or crave pizza. The pizzeria is close to Cibreo and the Sant’Ambrogio Market, out of the way of the touristy center. We recommend ordering a pizza Margherita or a pizza diavola, and beer and savoring this quiet corner of town.
