Tucked away in the serene countryside of Provence, Le Phebus & Spa offers a luxurious escape that combines comfort and elegance with a touch of rustic charm. Owned and operated by the talented chef Xavier Mathieu, this stunning Relais & Châteaux hotel is an ideal retreat for those seeking a less touristy experience while remaining within easy reach of Provence’s many attractions.
At Phebus, every room is a suite, providing ample space to relax and unwind. The suites are elegantly decorated, combining modern amenities with Provençal charm. We appreciated the spaciousness, which gave our family plenty of room to spread out and enjoy our stay. The hotel’s location is another highlight – it’s nestled in a tranquil area, away from the bustling tourist spots, yet conveniently close to many places worth visiting. For example, the stunning town of Gordes is just a short drive from the property.
Hotel Phebus has a spa for adults with an indoor pool to unwind and recharge. But what we really loved was the huge heated outdoor pool, which quickly became our son’s favorite spot. It’s just steps from the kitchen garden, which adds to the hotel’s charm and provides fresh produce for its renowned restaurants.
The restaurants at Phebus are nothing short of spectacular. Breakfast was delivered directly to our terrace in the morning with simple meats, jams, fruits, and pastries.
We enjoyed lunch at their casual restaurant, Le Café de la Fontaine, which served delicious, fresh dishes made with local ingredients that perfectly complemented the relaxed atmosphere. However, the true highlight of our culinary journey was dining at La Table de Xavier Mathieu, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant – read more about it here.
Overall, our stay at Phebus was unforgettable. From the luxurious suites to the world-class dining and serene surroundings, every aspect of our visit was exceptional. We’re already looking forward to returning, eager to see what new culinary creations Chef Xavier Mathieu will offer with the changing seasons and perhaps participate in a cooking class, to learn from the master himself.
