We recently enjoyed a dinner at L’Orangerie, located in Airelles Gordes, La Bastide. The candle-lit dining room provides an intimate setting for a gourmet experience. The restaurant offers two tasting menus: one focused on seafood and fish, and another that includes meat. There’s also an à la carte option and a child’s menu.

We initially planned to stick to the seafood and fish menu. However, “the pigeon goes mushroom hunting” caught our eye. As avid fans of French pigeon dishes, we couldn’t resist. The team kindly made the adjustment so we didn’t miss out. In general, we felt the menu read well, with whimsically named dishes that made us want to experience more.

Dinner began with coupes of Champagne and “olives” made of goat cheese. We enjoyed a series of delightful courses: red shrimp and peas, spider crab meets broccoli (served in the shell), and “sea bass behaves like a sardine.” Each dish came with thoughtful pairings, one being sake, and another being Montrachet — doesn’t get much better than that!

Our evening at L’Orangerie was lovely. During warmer months, you can dine outside and enjoy the fabulous terrace view. L’Orangerie offers a memorable dining experience with exceptional food and a charming ambiance.
