As we mentioned in this post, we visited both the Holiday House and Sparrows Lodge on our trip to Palm Springs, and we’d happily book a return stay at either. If Sparrows Lodge is a tranquil garden retreat, Holiday House is a flashback to the glamorous resort days of midcentury Palm Springs. Decorated in crisp shades of white and blue, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported out of California and into to a Mediterranean escape.
Located in downtown Palm Springs, Holiday House is a great place to stop for a drink or to dine on their beautiful patio. You need reservations for dinner, but if they are not busy, you can call ahead or walk in for a table at lunch. Be sure to take a minute to admire the art and décor in the lobby, it’s fabulous!

We ordered Aperol Spritzes since they seemed so appropriate under the blue and white awnings, but the table next to us ordered martinis, which were served in equally fabulous blue martini glasses. On the recommendation of the manager of Sparrows Lodge, we ordered the lobster fries with truffle-cheese sauce, which were delicious, and are guaranteed to be the envy of every other table around. We also ordered the chicken and avocado salad to balance out the meal with something lighter and healthier. They were delicious!

We stopped in for a quick lunch, but this adorable hotel is definitely on our short list for a return visit. It’s located just a block or two off Palm Canyon Drive, the main road through Downtown Palm Springs, so it’s within walking distance to the Art Museum, numerous restaurants, and tons of incredible vintage shopping.
