There’s something innately magical about Burgundy. The region’s rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and exquisite vineyards make it a dream destination for many—especially wine enthusiasts. But the authentic charm of Burgundy lies in its ability to make you feel right at home.

Finding a hotel in Burgundy that suits our taste has always been a challenge. Partly because we haven’t yet found any good ones, but also because we prefer to rent a house like La Maison Des Chaumes, a house in the village of Villers-la-Faye, so that we can enjoy cooking with fresh produce and tasting the world-renowned wines at our own pace (and not at restaurant wine list prices).

Inviting white door with open window leading to a cozy beachside retreat.
Lavender bouquet resting on a shiny silver tray, ideal for cooking or home decor.
Bright dining area with a wooden table and white chairs, opening to a balcony with lush greenery and.

Tucked away in this quiet village, surrounded by wineries, our rental house is just a quick drive to the bustling town of Beaune, but even closer to Nuits-Saint-George, a village that has captured our hearts time and again.

Cheese, grapes, and wine on a terrace with a scenic view in the South of France.
Cozy beach house with blue shutters and a shaded porch in a secluded cove, perfect for relaxing by t.
Bright dining room opening to lush garden outdoors.
Vintage kitchen scale with metal bowl and green meat slicer on wooden shelf.
Charming bedroom with two single beds, vintage iron headboards, and natural light in Burgundy.

With three cozy bedrooms, a spacious dining room, a well-equipped kitchen, and an outdoor terrace, this house in Villers-la-Faye allows you to enjoy sipping an aperitif on the terrace as the sun sets. Its interiors are tastefully decorated with local furniture pieces and antiques, and it is comfortable without the clutter that’s common in many other rentals.

Its proximity to several well-stocked grocery stores (Intermarche being the closest and Grand Frais being the best) and one of our favorite local markets is a bonus for us. We love to buy local produce and cook meals for dinner in the Nuits-St-George market on Thursdays), making the most of both the local produce and products. For our recommendations on where to buy wine and dine in our Beaune Black Book.

Burgundy Rental

This house has witnessed some of our most cherished memories. It’s where we stayed before our move to Switzerland and during our house-hunting days in Burgundy. It’s also where we introduced Baby J and my mother to France. At just two months old, Baby J got a taste of what would probably be a lifelong love for travel.

For families, especially those with young children, the house is perfect. It offers ample space, ensuring everyone has their little corner of comfort, plus a big washer and dryer and lots of outdoor space, while providing the quiet and privacy (including gated driveway) you might want as well.

The next time you find yourself planning a trip to Burgundy and are looking for a place that feels like home, check out this gem in Villers-la-Faye. Book your stay online here.
