Del Dotto Family Wineries & Caves opens their newest property in Napa Valley, Piazza Del Dotto, on Friday, September 1, 2017. Located in Oakville, the winery will offer a complete culinary experience.
The focal point of Piazza Del Dotto is the tasting room, known as La Barchessa, designed in partnership with architect Ilio De Filippis and inspired by Venetian barns found in the Italian countryside. La Barchessa is surrounded by Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, antique Italian sculptures, a culinary garden with tasting cabanas, ornate water fountains, 137-year-old Sevillano olive trees, and a collection of birds including peacocks, pheasants, turkeys, doves and chickens.
The interior of La Barchessa features paintings and furniture from Italy, sourced by Yolanda Del Dotto. Del Dotto’s culinary team, led by Chefs Joshua Schwartz, formerly of the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group, will prepare small bites to accompany the wine flights. “The food and wine pairings are at the heart of Piazza Del Dotto, embodying Dave’s philosophy that wine tasting should be a complete sensory experience,” said Schwartz. “Depending on the experience our guests wish to have, they can choose from Poppers at Piazza for a selection of five wines paired with savory bite-sized treats, or indulge in Delicacies by Del Dotto, which is our premium tasting of six to seven wines accompanied by savory small plates, finished with a port and cheese or dessert pairing.”
You may also taste the wines without food pairings at Piazza Del Dotto, The wine selections will include an Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the Oakville property, a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, Sauvignon Blanc from Rutherford, and Rosé of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the family’s Fort Ross-Seaview vineyard on the Sonoma Coast. Later this fall, Piazza Del Dotto will launch their first sparkling Rosé of Pinot Noir.
