Le Bistro is the casual dining restaurant at Château de Berne. Just steps from the main hotel, the restaurant adjoins the winery tasting room. You can come for a wine tasting and then stay for lunch or dinner. They offer a daily menu (ours had a fantastic steak and Roquefort sauce), or you choose from the a la carte menu, which includes a selection of delicious pizzas.
The room is warm, with a pair of huge fireplaces and rustic tables. We loved the huge ice buckets placed around the room to hold many, many bottles of chilled white wine and rose. There was a lot of room so was easy to accommodate strollers or large groups. At the same time, you’ll find lots of couples on dates, as well as families, and most of the clients are not guests of the hotel.
We had several meals here and loved the steak with the Roquefort sauce we mentioned above, but the most fun was a pizza night. The pizzas are really excellent and pair nicely with the Château de Berne rouge. Be sure to save room for one of the tartes aux citron that tempts you when you walk in.
