If you’re in Interlaken and looking for solid Italian food, head to Sapori at the Victoria-Jungfrau Hotel and Spa. This casual Italian restaurant has a large outdoor terrace overlooking the Alps and an opulent indoor dining room with a gorgeous bar and pizza oven. You’ll find everything from gelato and pizza to pasta and gratinated prawns. Sit outside to watch the paragliders land across the street in the park.
When we visited Sapori, it was still a bit cold out, so we had dinner inside. If you plan to order pasta, we highly recommend placing an order of Sapori’s focaccia so you can use it to sop up your sauce. We missed the wood-oven flavor, but the crust is perfectly light and fluffy with a bit of crunch. Their style of focaccia is like a pizza without toppings. It comes with olive oil, salt, and rosemary. If you don’t like rosemary, ask them to leave it off. Our favorite appetizer was the shellfish with Sardinian fregola, which would be perfect for a hot summer day with a crisp white wine.
For pasta, we recommend the Scialatielli allo Scoglio, which is pasta from Campania that’s thick, short, and chewy, served with seafood and shellfish broth. For dessert, order the Colonello. Three scoops of lemon sorbet and vodka served in a tall-footed glass. You’ll have a lovely finish with what tastes like limoncello.
