When we want pizza that actually reminds us of Italy, we go to Napoli on the Road. It’s where we take family and friends when they visit London—and every time, the reaction is the same: this might be the best pizza they’ve ever tasted outside Naples.
The restaurant started with Michele Pascarella, a Neapolitan pizzaiolo who began baking out of a small van in London before opening his first location in Chiswick. Since then, he’s earned international attention, including recognition from 50 Top Pizza Europe as one of the best pizzerias on the continent. A second restaurant followed in Richmond, and a third location has just been announced in Soho.
The crust is really what sets Napoli on the Road apart. It’s not sourdough, not overly puffed or chewy, but perfectly balanced—light and soft in the center with a gentle char and crisp edge. You taste the wheat, the smoke, and the precision in the bake. It’s the best pizza crust of any style we’ve found in London, and it’s what keeps us coming back.

The toppings stay true to Neapolitan tradition but with just enough creativity to surprise you. Some are beautifully simple—Margherita, marinara, or a white pizza with ricotta and basil—while others push further, like the rich ragu-topped pie layered with slow-cooked meat, Parmigiano, and fresh herbs. To us this was the riskiest move on ente menu, but the sauce managed to not overload the dough.
Even the salads are exceptional. The feta and tomato salad is one of those dishes you could build a meal around—bright, sweet, salty, and full of texture. We’d happily stop in just for that and a glass of wine.

Speaking of wine, the list is concise but well chosen, with Italian bottles that pair neatly with the food. Service is friendly but relaxed, and the atmosphere matches the spirit of the food—warm and unpretentious.
Napoli on the Road is proof that great pizza doesn’t need to announce itself with gimmicks. It just needs perfect dough, good ingredients, and a pizzaiolo who knows what he’s doing. For us, it’s become one of those rare London spots that feels worth crossing the city for but they’ll soon have a new location in Soho too!
