Just minutes from glamorous Cannes, Château de Théoule is the newest luxury retreat on the Côte d’Azur, having opened its doors for the summer 2024 season. This exquisite hotel, built from the local red rock and once a soap factory, has been transformed into a haven of elegance, seamlessly blending old-world charm with modern luxury.
The hotel is divided into two distinct sections: the original building, rich with character and history, and a sleek, modern wing that overlooks the shimmering pool and the Mareluna restaurant. This juxtaposition of old and new offers guests a unique experience, with each area offering its own distinct charm.
Our day at Château de Théoule began at the beach club, where we reserved loungers and enjoyed a leisurely lunch under the shade. The menu was a seafood lover’s dream, with tender calamari, perfectly cooked pasta with shrimp, and a refreshing ceviche. For wine enthusiasts, don’t hesitate to ask for recommendations. We were treated to a bottle of Laika by Pierre Menard, a selection that was not on the wine list but which was nothing short of spectacular.
The day didn’t end there. After, we had fruits givrés by Maison Sorbetti, frozen fruits filled with sorbet, at our loungers by the sea. The lemon sorbet was a refreshing, but our son couldn’t get enough of the giant chocolate cacao pod filled with rich chocolate gelato.
Each room at Château de Théoule is a work of art, with no two rooms alike. Our stay involved a room change due to tall stairs in our original suite, and it was a pleasant surprise to find that both rooms had different color palettes and large terraces with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. This attention to detail in design made our stay even more memorable.
Breakfast on the terrace was a serene experience, with golden stands holding jams and butter, all while overlooking the bustling port. However, the real culinary highlight was dinner at Mareluna. This restaurant is a star in its own right, offering dishes that are as beautiful as they are delicious. Dining on the terrace with the sea lapping nearby and the lights of Cannes twinkling in the distance made for an unforgettable evening.
Château de Théoule’s spa is a step above the usual on the Côte d’Azur. The spa features an indoor jacuzzi and two Nordic baths outside, perfect for relaxation after a day of exploring. The My Blend LED mask treatments come highly recommended for a rejuvenating experience with immediate results.
For those who like to explore, the town has a path that winds along the water, dotted with art installations, benches for rest, and a few little bars and casual beach restaurants. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll, offering stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere. The surrounding area feels like a quaint, small town—untouched by heavy tourism. You’re close enough to enjoy a shopping spree in Cannes with its luxury boutiques, but honestly, why would you want to leave this tranquil oasis?
What truly sets Château de Théoule apart is the service. The staff went above and beyond, especially in their kindness toward our son. From special touches at dinner to gifting him a cherished stuffed animal upon arrival, their attention to detail was remarkable. The valet team also stood out, ensuring our car was vacuumed and spotless and ready when we left, always greeting us with a smile.
Château de Théoule is a unique destination where luxury, history, and modern comfort combine. Whether you’re looking to relax by the sea, enjoy world-class dining, or simply take in the stunning views of the Mediterranean, this is the place to do it. It’s the perfect spot to sip rosé, watch the sunset, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
