Perched on a rocky outcropping that juts into the sparkling Mediterranean, Maybourne La Plage offers an exclusive beach club experience. We had high expectations of this beach club, which belongs to the prestigious Maybourne Riviera Hotel, known for its sister properties like Claridge’s in London. It did not disappoint.
Just a short drive from Monte-Carlo, the beach club cascades down the rocks in a terraced layout, with striped umbrellas and comfortable beach chairs nestled into the natural stone, creating an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The small size of the club makes it quite peaceful and while anyone can make a reservation for lunch, guests of the hotel have priority for beach chairs, as they should.
Our lunch began with a spicy margarita that delivered on its promise—perfect for those who appreciate a bit of heat. We then shared several starters, the highlight being a refreshing salad made with watermelon, apple, avocado, and pistachio—a perfect combination of sweet and savory and perfect for a hot day.
For our main course, we opted for a whole dorade (sea bream), expertly prepared and accompanied by selections from the beach club’s concise but well-curated wine list. Everything we tasted was delicious and fresh, but the unbeatable view of the Mediterranean coast—the towering mountains and sparkling sea—made everything more enjoyable.
Maybourne La Plage isn’t an ordinary beach club; it’s a place where you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the Mediterranean coast in exclusivity and style.
