Our visit to the Prince de Galles, A Luxury Collection Hotel began with a very warm welcome. Walking into the lobby, we were greeted by an exquisite display of chocolates and sweets and an extremely hospitable team. What made the arrival even more special was the thoughtful welcome for our son, which included a cute stuffed ostrich, a delightful keepsake he hasn’t stopped talking about since.
A Prime Location on Avenue George V
Situated on the prestigious Avenue George V in Paris’s 8th arrondissement, the Prince de Galles offers an unbeatable location in one of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods, the Golden Triangle. As part of The Luxury Collection by Marriott, it represents the pinnacle of elegance and refined hospitality.
This area is renowned for its haute couture boutiques and luxury shopping, including the nearby Maison Dior and other iconic fashion houses. Whether you’re indulging in retail therapy or exploring Paris’s historic streets, the location couldn’t be more ideal.
Spacious Rooms with Art Deco Elegance
Our room was a tranquil retreat with an art deco aesthetic that felt both modern and timeless. Dark wood accents, black-and-white 1930s Vogue photography, and sleek furnishings created a cozy yet sophisticated vibe. Large windows framed views of the historic surrounding buildings, making it the perfect place to relax with a cup of tea or coffee.
One of our favorite indulgences was ordering breakfast to our room. There’s nothing quite like enjoying fresh pastries and the hotel’s house-made hot chocolate while taking in the view. On a chilly Paris morning, the hot chocolate—rich, creamy, and decadent—was the ultimate treat.
Dining at Prince de Galles
For a contemporary, international experience, Akita Black serves a menu of sushi and American-Korean-inspired dishes. We sampled a few appetizers from the room service menu, and every bite was exceptional. The restaurant itself is a hot spot for dinner, with a sleek atmosphere that feels part club, part upscale lounge. It’s an excellent choice for those looking for a lively dining scene.
For something more traditional, 19.20 is helmed by celebrity chef Norbert Tarayre and delivers elevated versions of classic bistro dishes. The menu focuses on local ingredients and hearty, comforting flavors. We started with a delicate crab cake and a flavorful tart of pressed butternut squash and quiche. For mains, the standout dishes were the trio of lamb served with creamy polenta and the duck confit with beets and walnuts. Each dish was executed well, showcasing both the quality of the ingredients and the expertise of the kitchen.
