We’ve heard a lot of great things about Zazu Kitchen + Farm. We happened to be driving through Sebastopol this weekend and decided to stop in for lunch.
We hadn’t been to Sebastopol in close to a year, and we were amazed by all of the cool shops, restaurants, and wineries popping up in the Barlow (including one of our favorite California wineries, Wind Gap, and Spirit Works Distillery, across the street). The smell of the lavender lining the streets was perfect on a warm day.
We grabbed a table outside and ordered two cocktails, a Strawberry Smash and a Spirit Works Sloe 75. Both were delicious, but we thought the black pepper on the rim of the Strawberry Smash was especially interesting.
Since it was a warm day, and since it was Memorial Day weekend, Sarah was in the mood for barbecue, so we ordered a pulled pork sandwich and split it with a caesar salad. Everything was delicious, but the highlight of our lunch was the beans that came with the pulled pork sandwich. They were amazing, and tasted like a cross between chili and baked beans. Chef Coahan was kind enough to share the recipe here.
We picked up the most beautiful strawberries from Dirty Girl Produce this weekend, so we’ll definitely be recreating the Strawberry Smash soon. We’re already thinking about serving them for a party in these, these, or these glasses. Clayton thinks the gold detail on these is especially chic.
We’ll probably also work on the Spirit Works Sloe 75 with our leftover bottle of Spirit Works Sloe Gin from this recipe. They would be perfect for a brunch spread in a gorgeous flutes like these (on sale), these, or these.
Next time you’re in Sebastopol, head over to Zazu for some great cocktails and food.
