Turino is the city of Vermouth. We stopped into Affini San Salvario, a modern Vermouth bar in Torino that's making their own spirits. Their Le Masche Elixir is made with Cortese wine, vermouth spices, and fernet botanicals, handcrafted in their own spirit laboratory. Bar manager, Michele Marzella, explained that Ippocratic Wine is the ancestor of vermouth. It's made with chestnut honey and spices like cloves, ginger, gentian, and absinthe.
