Skip Barolo’s touristy spots and head to this wine bar.
La Vite Turchese is our go-to wine bar and wine shop in Barolo. Unfortunately, most of the restaurants and wine shops in Barolo cater to tourists who are not very familiar with the region’s producers, and some are owned by large, low-quality, commercial wineries.
For a truly educational and exciting tasting experience, head to La Vite Turchese for a large selection of small production and artisanal wines from all over Italy. Owner, Stefano Turchese says that their goal is to serve good wine at any price point. Wine for everyone! La Vite Turchese has modified a Coravin system for commercial-level capacity so they can offer dozens of unique and sought-after wines by the glass. They also offer a broad selection of rare and hard-to-find wines for purchase. You can find many of the wineries we know and love, but they are hard to find, like Bartolo Mascarello, Guiseppe Rinaldi, and Guiseppe Mascarello.

Turchese is also the perfect place to stop for bites and bubbles. We suggest ordering some snacks with your wine tasting. If they have marinated anchovies, we suggest ordering them with a bottle of Champagne. You can make something similar at home with our anchovies and salsa verde recipe. It’s also a great place to taste local artisanal Piemontese cheeses and the famous Bra sausage.

La Vite Turchese is open relatively late on weekends, and if you need a break from wine after a day of tasting Barolo, it is a great place to grab a gin and tonic in a hip environment. The owners are super friendly, speak English, and love to educate clients about wine.
