We’re excited to report that that dungeness crab season is now open on time this year, as of November 15, 2017! We had originally heard that the crab season might be delayed (remember, last year it was closed most of the season), but it looks like the San Francisco specialty will be gracing the plates in many a restaurant and holiday table this year. We love to make our signature cioppino with it, especially for Christmas Eve. There are still some warnings for specific areas, but it looks like we’ll all still plenty of crab this year.

We love ordering live crab from our friends at Water2Table. Currently, their Marin Coast Live Dungeness Crabs are priced at $5.30/lb (as of 11/15). Some of our favorite crab recipes to try include Chioppino, Crab and Corn Chowder, and Chilled Pea, Mint, and Crab soup.
