The Thompson Hotel is one of the newest additions to Nashville’s trendy Gulch neighborhood. This boutique luxury hotel is within easy walking distance to most downtown Nashville restaurants and bars, so we checked in on on our recent trip to Nashville to get a taste for this booming Southern town.
The Thompson is sleek and modern, with nods to Nashville’s status as the center of the country music world around every turn, like flask-shaped bottles of water and Marsh speakers in each room, a Southern seafood restaurant, and sleek coffeeshop in the lobby. The rooms are spacious and clean, even if a little too hipster for our personal taste, and the service at the hotel was friendly and accommodating. For guests who may have forgotten an item at home, the front desk has almost anything you can imagine for guests to borrow or keep.
You could spend a whole day just checking out the shops and restaurants in the Gulch, and signs of its booming popularity are around every turn, like new condo buildings, murals, and even a Barry’s Bootcamp. If you’re dying to check out Biscuit Love, it’s just across the street. There’s always a huge line but we could watch from our hotel room and pop over as soon as it slowed down. We personally would recommend skipping it, but there are numerous other amazing places to dine within just a few blocks. We don’t frequent hotel restaurants, but we do love hotel bars, so we made it a point to check out the Thompson’s rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson. With a great selection of cocktails and local craft brews (if you can find them, we’d highly recommend the beers from Tennessee’s Blackberry Farm), the bar offers gorgeous views of downtown Nashville in a laid back environment.
