We spent the first few days of our last trip to LA at a conference in Los Palos Verdes. The neighborhoods are beautiful and the views are stunning (we saw packs of dolphins in the ocean a few times).
By the third day of the conference we were ready for a change of scenery (and a break from conference food), so we headed up to Manhattan Beach for a night out. We’d heard great reviews of Manhattan Beach Post from our friends at the CINC team, so we were excited to check it out.

The restaurant opens to the outside, so it was the perfect place to enjoy dinner on a cool Southern California evening, and it’s just a couple of blocks up from the beach. The menu comes folded up in an envelope with your name on it, which is a nice personal touch.
We started with the restaurant’s famous bacon-cheddar buttermilk biscuits, but we also ordered one of the Fleur de Sel pretzels since the horseradish mustard sounded amazing. Our favorite cocktail was the Avila’s Heir, a variation of a margarita made with reposado tequila, serrano chile, mandarin, and yuzu. We loved the Asian twist and touch of spice.

With a slight chill in the air, the roasted squash and ricotta sounded perfect for the weather, and we rounded out a dinner of small bites with the halibut aguachiles and a squid ink pasta dish with braised octopus. We can’t wait to try making the roasted squash and ricotta at home. Until then, if you’re in the mood for squash, check out our roasted squash soup, squash with za’atar, and stuffed delicata squash.
