B. Patisserie is the destination for the most amazing French pastries and the best Kouign Amann in San Francisco. In fact, B. Patisserie’s Kouign Amann is the best we’ve ever tasted anywhere, and we’ve tried them all over the United States, holding out hope that one would live up to the gold standard. They never do! Belinda Leong and Michel Suas have something special at this French pastry shop. If you’re not familiar, Kouign Amanns are flaky, buttery, caramelized pastries from Brittany, originally made as a large cake, but they have become popularized in the States as individual pastries.
Belinda previously worked at famous Bay Area restaurants like Gary Danko and Manresa. Michel, a native of France, has also worked in acclaimed restaurants and founded the San Francisco Baking Institute. If you’re looking to learn about advanced bread making and pastry, you’ll want to take a look at Michel’s book, Advanced Bread and Pastry.
You may need to stand in line, but it’s worth it here. You can also try B. on the Go for lunch just around the corner. Note that both are closed on Mondays.
