What’s the difference between Roman and Neapolitan pizza?

Pizza from Pizzeria concettina ai tre santi in Napoli Italy

Pizza is a beloved dish all over the world, but there are two main styles of pizza that originated in Italy: Roman and Neapolitan. Both styles have their own unique characteristics and history, and they are quite different from each other.

Roman pizza has pizza al taglio, is a type of pizza that is traditionally sold by the weight of the slice. It is typically thicker to be eaten on the go. The toppings on Roman pizza are typically simple and traditional, such as mozzarella, tomato, and basil, unless you go to a restaurant like Pizzera Bonci.
